Membership Customer Service Associate

AWF is seeking a motivated professional to serve as the front line of donor interactions and support the Marketing & Membership Department’s fundraising and awareness goals as the primary customer service liaison for all inbound current and prospect member communications and general requests.

This position will report to the Membership and Production Manager and will be based in Washington DC.


  • Provide outstanding customer service to all inbound current and prospective membership donor inquiries for ongoing member cultivation, including: 1.) all general communications (via phone, mail, and email), 2.) fulfilling AWF information requests, 3.) managing individual donor inquirers and 4.) conflict resolution. Identify communication trends as they develop, and notify Membership and Production Manager for executing proactive resolutions. Ensure all requests/inquiries are processed quickly, properly documented within constituents’ records, and are follow-up as needed to ensure a most satisfactory donor experience.
  • Provide general administrative support to AWF DC office including greeting visitors, answering phones and AWF general email, responding to business inquiries, distributing mail and faxes daily, and ensuring front office and common areas are appropriate for guests at all times.
  • Update membership constituent records within Raiser’s edge with appropriate communications and contact information as received through email, phone and traditional mail requests.
  • Process all Membership donations received via phone calls per established protocols. Provides support to the Gift Processing Specialist for recording in-house donations.
  • Provide administrative support for the Membership and Marketing department including coordinating shipments and deliveries, light proofreading, ad hoc project support requests, providing coordination assistance for special events and departmental meetings.
  • Maintain inventory for onsite and offsite storage and proactively orders and replenishes supplies as inventory is depleted. Supports the distribution of printed AWF marketing material to staff/offices both domestically and internationally.
  • Maintain excellent vendor relationships and coordinate as needed for office services, including pantry, telephone, mail, and cleaning. Identifies cost savings opportunities and potential new vendor partnerships.


  • Bachelor’s degree (marketing/comms preferred)
