White rhino populations are on the rise, but continued conservation is necessary to ensure their survival.

Women's Enterprise
Weaving a Better Future

Near Tarangire National Park, Tanzania sits a banda, or business stall, where the hands of the Mwada women weave not only baskets and mats but also a future in which they and their daughters will play a greater and more meaningful role within their homes, their communities, and their country. AWF, with support from USAID, constructed this banda to serve as a store where they can sell handcrafts to tourists visiting the nearby national park. The Mwada venture is only one in a string of successful women-run enterprises that were established with the help of AWF that link conservation to economic benefits. Watch our inspiring video to learn more about the unique role women play in AWF's conservation approach and vision for the continent.

All footage was exclusively filmed on location by AWF VP for Philanthropy and Marketing, Craig R. Sholley, and Director of Marketing, John Butler, with all video post-production managed in-house with special assistance from Dawne Langford.
