Patrick Bergin, CEO of the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and Christopher Forbes, Vice Chairman of Forbes, are pleased to announce a
special exhibition of the paintings of nationally acclaimed wildlife artist Jan Martin McGuire at the Forbes Galleries.
Jan, an accomplished artist and avid naturalist, has been painting nature’s magnificence for more than 25 years. After a transformational trip to Africa a decade ago, Jan began to focus her attention on the colors, textures, light and unparalleled diversity of Africa’s animals. She has since portrayed arresting scenes of wildlife found in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and other African countries.
Jan’s ability to accurately and artistically capture the beauty of Africa’s iconic mammals and varied avian life is a result of a combination of talents. She is a gifted artist and skilled student of the natural world who studiously observes the behavioral and anatomical intricacies of wildlife roaming the African bush. The references she collects from the field are the foundation of her lovely completed paintings.
Through our Artists for AWF program, Jan has partnered with AWF to raise both awareness and funds for important conservation initiatives in our Heartlands. AWF is extremely pleased to collaborate with both Jan and the Forbes Galleries to present Jan Martin McGuire’s Scenes from the African Wild. A percentage of the original painting sales will be donated to AWF’s critical conservation efforts.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Kate Clinton, Senior Development Officer, African Wildlife Foundation, 202-939-3348 or visit the Forbes Galleries web site.
