Charly Facheux has been hard at work in AWF's Congo Heartland. Over the past year, with support from USAID, Facheux helped re-start the Congo Shipping Project along the Congo and Maringa Rivers in Democratic Republic of Congo. Through this program, a boat is delivering much-needed humanitarian supplies to Congolese communities and bringing farmers' agricultural goods to market for the first time in years.

Facheux was recently named Director of AWF's Congo Heartland and is overseeing the region's programs, including efforts to protect the bonobo.
