African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is one of the leading international conservation organizations focused solely on the African continent. AWF is seeking high-performing individuals to fill the position of Data Services & Research Assistant. S/he will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the database for use by all channels and programs, providing a seamless donor experience for AWF’s constituents.

The Data Services & Research Assistant will also support the Prospect Research Officer in uncovering prospective Mid-Level ($1,000–$9,999) donors as well as opportunities to upgrade current donors. S/he will work closely with the Individual Giving Officers, creating donor profiles and helping them to prioritize their portfolio. Lastly, this position will assist the Manager of Planned Giving with their data entry and donor correspondence.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Legacy
  • Track information collected via marketing initiatives on donors’ records, including scanning and uploading handwritten responses.
  • Generate informational packages via mail merge processes.
Database Hygiene
  • Ensure all Raiser’s Edge (RE) code tables, as a fundamental part of the database, are clean for use.
  • Manage duplicate records in RE to assure zero information loss.
  • Perform scheduled hygiene queries in RE to confirm all records contain the necessary information for successful segmentation and production of philanthropy mailings. 
  • Document and update AWF Database Policies, Procedures, and Scoping Documents.
  • Update GDPR consent information on donor records based on communications through various channels.
  • Collaborate with the Data Services Coordinator to open all mail received and evaluate, sort and total all donations.
Prospect Research Support
  • Conduct prospect research at the direction of the Prospect Research Officer to uncover existing and new potential Mid-Level donors.
  • Create donor profiles that distill and convey information in a targeted and compelling way for solicitors.
  • Validate ratings from recent Target Analytics projects to prioritize targets for a Mid-Level ask and upgrading those with Major Donor capacity to the Prospect Research Officer.
Membership/Marketing Support
  • Support the Administrative Associate with answering incoming phone calls and responding to donor inquiries when appropriate.
  • Import donors from online partners and workplace giving and ensure coding is compliant with each agreement.
  • Create and execute marketing efforts and data pulls from Blackbaud Direct Marketing based on mail plan supplied by the Marketing team.
  • Manage all list rental/list exchange processes and file imports.
  • Export data for acknowledgements on a regular basis and ensure the logic is accurate.
  • Review all comments and updates in the eVision database and update donors’ communication preferences accordingly. 

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at 2 least years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud products, Raiser's Edge & Direct Marketing, preferred.
  • Experience in Salesforce.
  • Works well in a team and also independently.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Efficient multi-tasker.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
