Show Your Lion Pride
There is no African symbol more powerful than the lion. And AWF is working relentlessly to keep it that way. Scientists believe lion populations have declined from a high of 100,000 two decades ago to just 23,000 today. And Tanzania hosts the majority of that population. With intimate knowledge of the Maasai Steppe and its carnivores, Bernard Kissui oversees AWF’s lion research in the Maasai Steppe Heartland. The focus of Bernard’s research is the demography of lions and human-lion conflicts in and around Tarangire National Park. But the research team is small and needs help from our supporters. Bernard needs to collar more lions for example. By donating to AWF you can be part of our lion recovery effort and help ensure that Africa will always have its proud, majestic lions.
