Support Wild Dog Conservation
Together We Can Save the African Wild Dog
Formerly widespread throughout sub-Saharan Africa, today, just 3,000 to 5,500 African wild dogs remain, with most populations still declining. Often blamed when hyenas or leopards kill people’s livestock, wild dogs have been hunted and killed in many areas. AWF is conducting vital scientific research on this endangered carnivore in northern Kenya.
Wild dog conservation is working. Less than 10 years ago, there were no wild dog sightings in the Samburu Heartland. Today there are over 150 known wild dogs.
Though wild dog numbers are slowly increasing, research and active participation of local communities is vital to help fully establish this small population in order to make it viable well into the future. And AWF needs your help. Please join us in our efforts to ensure the survival of this amazing carnivore in the Samburu Heartland.
Your gift now will support AWF’s work throughout the African continent and ensure Africa’s wildlife and wild lands endure forever.
