AWF's goal: Stop the destruction of bonobo habitat and learn about this mysterious ape through scientific research.

Africa’s Great Apes Need Our Help
Gorillas and Bonobos Face Peril

Two of Africa’s great apes — mountain gorillas and bonobos — are likely the most endangered primates on the planet. Fewer than 800 mountain gorillas remain, and no one knows for sure just how many bonobos are left. Together with your help, AWF will step up efforts to safeguard these animals, protect the habitat they need to survive and give people in the region a stake in ensuring the survival of these great apes - by helping communities build businesses based on wildlife conservation that can benefit people and wildlife alike.

With your help, we will equip camps in the Congo for scientific ecotourism and supply much-needed equipment to the rangers that risk their lives to protect these incredible apes.

Your gift today, whether large or small, will make a vital difference and will help ensure that Africa’s great apes endure for future generations. If you agree that our world is richer for sharing it with these remarkable creatures, then we urge you to donate today – while we still have time to save them.

Your gift now will support AWF’s work throughout the African continent and ensure Africa’s wildlife and wild lands endure forever.
