"Dear Colleagues,

It was with profound shock, disbelief and dismay that we at AWF, Arusha, learnt of the horrific bombings of the World Trade Center and Pentagon in the US. It is difficult to imagine that people can unleash such horrendous terror on fellow human beings. We send our deepest and hearfelt condolences to all of you at AWF, Washington and the rest of the American people at this time of immense grief. We also hope that all peace loving countries around the world will unite to deal with this terrorism menace and hold those responsible to account for their heinous acts. May God rest in peace all those who have lost their lives and wish speedy recovery to the wounded. I am sending this on behalf of all staff, Arusha."

"Dear Colleagues,

I cannot get the right words to express my shock and horror for what happened yesterday in the States!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw on CNN the two towers at the World Trade Center in NY tumbling down and fires flaring at the Pentagon!! It is really difficult to believe that such a thing could ever happen inside the US!! I do understand the difficult times you are going through and our prayers are with you so that you find strength and courage to bring normalcy in your lives. I have confidence in the US security system that it will be able to track down the perpetrators of this heinous act and bring them to justice.

May God bless you all!"
