Nairobi, Kenya – Thursday, 24th June 2026 – The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and Dev-Afrique Development Advisors, a member of the DevPartners Alliance, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a strategic partnership to support African governments, institutions, and development partners in strengthening conservation outcomes, natural capital stewardship, and sustainable development across the continent.
The partnership brings together AWF's decades of conservation leadership and Pan-African experience with Dev-Afrique's expertise in strategic advisory services, governance, policy and governance, institutional strengthening, data systems, geospatial technology, and implementation support.
Through the collaboration, the two organizations will jointly support governments, regional institutions, development partners, and conservation organizations in designing and implementing transformative solutions that strengthen conservation outcomes alongside sustainable development. By combining thought leadership and strategic guidance, policy and institutional reform, data systems, geospatial technology, and implementation support the partnership will help clients navigate complex development challenges, strengthen decision-making, and deliver scalable, high-impact solutions that generate lasting value for people, economies, and ecosystems.
"Across Africa, there is growing recognition that our natural capital is not only an environmental asset but a foundation for economic growth, resilience, and prosperity," said Kaddu Sebunya, Chief Executive Officer of the African Wildlife Foundation.
"Realizing this opportunity requires strong institutions, sound data, effective planning, and partnerships that can bridge the gap between vision and implementation. Through this collaboration, we aim to support African governments and institutions in making informed decisions that deliver lasting benefits for both people and nature."
Ridwan M. Sorunke, Founder and Managing Principal of Dev-Afrique Development Advisors, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to building African-led solutions for some of the continent's most pressing development and conservation challenges.
"Africa's future will increasingly depend on how effectively we manage the intersection of economic development, governance, and natural capital. By combining AWF's conservation leadership with Dev-Afrique's advisory and implementation expertise, we see an opportunity to develop practical, scalable solutions that strengthen conservation outcomes, support governments and institutions, and help translate Africa’s biodiversity ambitions into measurable impact."
The partnership will operate through AWF's Strategic Solutions Group, a platform established to respond to growing demand for strategic advisory and implementation support across Africa. Together, the organizations will work to develop and deliver scalable approaches that strengthen conservation impact while supporting sustainable development objectives.
