REQUEST FOR QUOTATION: CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED LUMO CULTURAL CENTRE

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) invites experienced, duly registered building contractors to submit quotations for the construction of the Proposed Lumo Cultural Centre at LUMO Community Wildlife Sanctuary, near Mwatate, Taita-Taveta County, Kenya.
Scope of works
The works will be carried out in two phases:
Phase 1: Preliminaries; Performance and Conference Area; Office, Cultural Artifacts Display Area (Dawida Market) and Ablution.
Phase 2: Cafeteria; and one (1) Cottage.
The design uses local building traditions and materials, including hard-rock foundation walling, rammed mud walls, treated timber poles and makutu (thatch) roofing. Bidders shall price both phases. AWF reserves the right to award Phase 1 only.
Eligibility
The RFQ is open to contractors that:
are registered in Kenya and hold valid National Construction Authority (NCA) registration in a suitable category;
hold a valid tax compliance certificate;
have completed comparable building works in the last five years. Experience in rammed earth, pole structures or thatch roofing is an advantage.
Mandatory site visit
Attendance at the site visit is compulsory. Quotations from bidders who did not attend will not be evaluated. Site visits are held any day from Friday, 25 to Wednesday, 30 September 2026, by prior appointment.

The RFQ document, Bill of Quantities and drawings are available on request from [email protected]. Please quote the RFQ reference in your request.
Clarifications
Written clarification requests should be sent to [email protected], quoting the RFQ reference, by Thursday, 1 October 2026.
Submission
Quotations must be submitted by email to [email protected], with the subject line "RFQ AWF/RFQ/LUMO/2026", by close of business on Monday, 5 October 2026. Late quotations will be rejected.
AWF is not bound to accept the lowest or any quotation.
