AWF at APAC: Pre-Congress
YOUTH PRE-CONGRESS
African youth will convene for a 3 day pre-congress meeting in preparation for the Africa Protected Areas Congress. They aim to collectively articulate their vision for the future of Africa’s Protected and Conserved Areas and actively engage with high-level stakeholders throughout the congress. In addition, they have planned a series of side events showcasing their diverse and impactful projects that provide solutions to the biodiversity and climate crisis within their respective countries and regions as well as sessions where they share perspectives on ongoing policy processes such as the Post-2020 GBF of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the well anticipated UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) happening in Africa later this year.
AWF’s CEO, Kaddu Sebunya who has shared his enthusiasm and vision for the youth in previous forums is set to open the session on 15th July 2022 with our Youth Leadership Program Senor Manager, Simangele Msweli moderating several sessions within the intensive 3-day meeting. Our Global Leadership Vice President, Fred Kumah is also slotted to close the deliberations on 17th July 2022.
